SUBMIT A SESSION PROPOSAL
We are now accepting submissions for speaking and presenting opportunities at the SCIENCE TALK ‘27 annual science communication conference. This year, we’re focused on moving beyond conversation to application. We’re looking for presentations that show us what works, what we’re learning, and what communicators can put into practice to make their work more effective.
Welcome to SCIENCE TALK!
SCIENCE TALK began in 2015 as a group of scientists, communications professionals, researchers, and other experts who wanted to hang out, geek out, and talk about the need for better science communication across disciplines and with non-scientists. In 2017, we held the first Science Talk Northwest conference at the
Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) in Portland and were shocked when our small idea to create a community turned into a sold-out event!
Since then, SCIENCE TALK has grown year after year to become one of the premier gatherings for the professional science communication community. Our conference brings together content creators, journalists, educators, researchers, public health communicators, PIOs, engagement professionals, nonprofit and government communicators, artists, scientists, policymakers, entrepreneurs, students, and many others working to make science more accessible, engaging, relevant, and trusted across society.
SCIENCE TALK features skill-building workshops, insight-generating panels, experience- and data-informed presentations, and plenty of dedicated networking opportunities. The conference is designed to connect insights across practices, cultivate collaborations among practitioners, and spark innovation for more impactful
science communication. But while we value the learning sessions, we believe it is the community that makes SCIENCE TALK special: the conversations that keep going after a panel ends, the new collaborators and mentors you meet, the person you finally connect with after years of following their work, and the energy of being surrounded by people who understand why this work matters. Each year, attendees leave SCIENCE TALK feeling inspired, informed, and connected to the broader science communication community.
